BACULAB
Size: 56.000sqm | Urban Development | Comuna 8, Buenos Aires, Argentina | Year 4, High Density Urban Reform
BACULAB, the Buenos Aires Community Unit Lab, is designed as a multifunctional community that integrates personal, recreational, professional, and commercial programs within a shared urban space. The project brings together social housing, flex spaces, public amenities, green infrastructure, and walkability, to create a dynamic environment that supports everyday interaction and collective activity. A modular building system allows for flexible stacking and varied housing typologies, accommodating diverse household types while maintaining safety and accessibility standards. Public programs which foster cultural, recreational, and leisure activities are embedded throughout the site to activate the ground plane and eliminate dead space. Through climate-responsive design and layered public–private spaces, the project balances high density with livability and community cohesion.
